The first match of the third round was a one-sided affair as Raymond van Barneveld won every leg against 19-year-old Dutch compatriot Rico Vonck.
'Barney', a four-time British Darts Organisation world champion, had gone the full distance against world number one Colin Lloyd last Friday when he was below par for the first three sets.
But this time he was on top form from the outset with his young opponent completely overwhelmed, and the 39-year-old finished off with a 156 checkout for a three-dart average of just over 100.
"I'm always focused to win every leg,'' said Van Barneveld, whose average was the third highest of the tournament behind Taylor and the man the title-holder beat in the second round, Mick McGowan.
"I feel sorry for Rico. He has done really well here for himself and for Holland but this was just a bit too much for him.''
When asked about Taylor's average of 109 against McGowan, Van Barneveld said: "Was that with three darts or four?
"It's unbelievable to do that when your opponent has hit 10 180s. That's world class.''
In the second third round match, Alan Tabern beat Dave Askew 4-3 and the former will now play van Barneveld in the quarter-final.
