2300: As Alan Warriner-Little took to the stage for his clash with Alan Tabern I realised I'd misled you earlier - he does look like one of my colleagues.
However the bad news for Denis Ovens is that it was Tabern who went through.
A shock at face value given 'The Iceman' was seeded but he's been in terrible form this year with a string of first-round exits.
Colin Lloyd was next onto the stage and despite seeing Tomas Seyler rattle in a 180 with his first three darts there was never any real danger that 'Jaws' was going to depart at the first stage for the second successive world championship.
The celebrations showed how much it meant to Lloyd...but as relieved as he so obviously was, he probably overdid the fist pumping a little.
It's Raymond van Barneveld up next for the Essex boy after 'Barney' made a solid if unspectacular debut in beating teenager Mitchell Clegg.
He certainly wasn't as impressive as Phil Taylor had been but admitted it had felt a bit like he had been playing his son, who is actually a year older than Clegg.
I'm confident he'll step his game up against Lloyd, though, and continue to give us a good run for our money.
1640: It's become a standing joke in the Life office that we can count the number of televised matches we've seen Denis Ovens win on the fingers of one hand.
Perhaps it was the fact he was drawn against a doppleganger for one of our colleagues that fired up 'The Heat' but he's just showed why he's so high up the rankings with a 3-0 battering of an outclassed Steve Smith.
Actually, as I wrote that he stepped up for a 60 outshot for the match and managed to hit big five with his first dart but he regained his composure and nailed the double 18 on his next turn to move through.
Alan Warriner-Little and Alan Tabern will fight it out to meet Ovens in the next round...the bad news for the 49-year-old is that neither of them look like any of our co-workers. Sorry Dennis.
1545: Sad to see Bob Anderson go out so early. Always one of the tournament's characters, the 59-year-old has been beaten 3-1 by Darren Webster.
Chalked up at 1/4 for the match, Sid Waddell's revelation that the 'Rhinestone Cowboy' had been struggling with injury should have had me stampeding for the bookies to back Webster but by the time it became pretty obvious that Anderson was not at his best, the best prices had gone.
If only Sid had given us a 'heads up' a bit earlier...
1350: The BDO may have Michael van Gerwen and Jelle Klaasen but the PDC has just shown that where Dutch youngsters are concerned, the market hasn't been totally cornered by the men over at the Lakeside.
Nineteen-year-old Rico Vonck has just hammered Mark Walsh 3-0 at the Circus Tavern with a fine performance, including a quite brilliant 138 shot in the second set.
It was heartbreaking to watch the likeable Walsh struggle throughout the match with what looks to be dartitis but, make no mistake, 'Sparky' Vonck looks a class act.
As he's interviewed in the Sky studio after winning through, there's not a bead of sweat on his forehead (in contrast to our John Part 'Sweatwatch' last night) although his accent does make him sound worryingly like Borat.
