In excess of £65,000 in winnings was enough to secure 'Chizzy' top spot in his second season on tour - and that on the back of being named the PDC's Newcomer of the Year back in January.

Beating Phil Taylor at the World Championship this time last year gave him a flying start, albeit he suffered the now traditional curse of beating 'The Power' then losing his next match.

Fact box

  • Date of birth: 12.09.80
  • Birthplace: St Helens
  • Nickname: Chizzy
  • Major titles: None
  • World Championship best: Runner-up (once)
  • Walk-on music: Dirtee Disco

But he has gone from strength to strength in 2012, reaching the last 16 in both the World Grand Prix and European Championship while also picking his way through to the UK Open semi-finals.

The real successes have come on the floor, though, with Chisnall having won five Pro Tour events, most recently beating Taylor to take the 19th Players Championship event of the year in Barnsley.

Chisnall burst to attention with his run to the 2010 BDO world final, beating the likes of Darryl Fitton, Ted Hankey and Tony O'Shea before coming off second best against Martin Adams.

That earnt him a place in the 2010 Grand Slam of Darts and two months after that - following the 2011 Lakeside - he switched to the PDC after securing his tour card on the first day of Q School.
