Hamilton survived a nail-biter against Scot Gary Anderson before running out a 10-9 winner in a keenly-contested match-up.

There were no breaks in the first 11 legs with Hamilton holding the throw twice courtesy of 134 and 152 checkouts.

A superb 121 checkout gave Hamilton an 8-6 lead but Anderson fought back to force a nineteenth and deciding leg, however, Hamilton had the final say and he is now quietly confident of getting the better of Canadian John Part.

"You've got to enjoy darts to play good darts. My darts are going in so it makes you enjoy it," Hamilton told Sky Sports. "My self-belief is there. I'm just looking forward to the next game.

"I've just got to do what I want to do. I don't care what John (Part) does in the next round. If I come here and play darts I'll give myself every chance to win that game."

Three-time World Champion Part capitalised on a slow start from Brendan Dolan to secure a 10-6 victory. Dolan missed his first 12 shots at a double as Part raced into a 6-0 lead.

Dolan did fight back in the second half of the match, aided by 121 and 123 checkouts, to pull it back to 8-6, but another break from Part before he held his throw finally put paid to the Northern Irishman.

BDO World Champion Christian Kist progressed to the quarter-finals after he dumped out world number five Wes Newton 10-9 in dramatic fashion.

Newton, who trailed 6-2 at one stage, broke Kist's throw in the 18th leg with a 164 checkout to level the match at nine apiece only for Kist to respond and claim the win in the deciding leg.

The final clash of the night saw Van Barneveld beat fellow Dutchman Wesley Harms 10-4 to set up a final eight match against Kist. Harms' 170 checkout to break Van Barneveld in the 10th leg was the highlight.
