New Zealand fast bowler Shane Bond has
slammed World Cup organisers after Kenya made it through to the semi-finals of
the competition.
Bond is angry Kenya and Zimbabwe were awarded four points for matches
forfeited by the Black Caps and England respectively and believes that was the
wrong decision.
"We still all think it was the right decision not to go to Kenya," Bond told
the Waikato Times.
"But it was the disappointment of the tournament that they got four points
from us not going.
"You only play every four years on the world's biggest stage and two teams
went through to the Super Six that wouldn't have gone through otherwise."
New Zealand failed to reach the last four after consecutive losses to
Australia and India in the Super Six stage, but left-arm spinner Daniel Vettori
claims the forfeited points affected the team's entire campaign.
"It's one of the toughest things to deal with, knowing that if we had those
four points instead of Kenya we would have been in the semi-finals now instead
of being back home.
"We just needed one more win but in the end I guess the lack of runs in the
crucial games really killed us."
