CRICKET WORLD CUP WEST INDIES
Picture Dillon - spearheads the attack. (Allsport)

MERVYN DILLON

Born: 05.06.74
One-day internationals: 74
Batting: Right Hand (Avge: 7.80)
Bowling: Right Hand Fast Medium (Avge: 29.21)
Catches: 12

Fast-tracked into the West Indies team during his debut first-class season in 1997 on the recommendation of the late Malcolm Marshall, the right-arm pace bowler has taken five years to claim a permanent place.

He emerged from a host of contenders as the spearhead of the attack following the retirement of Curtly Ambrose and Courtney Walsh.

Similar to Walsh in method and pace - delivering with a high, chest-on action and depending on movement off the seam.

If he can keep the ball pitched up during the World Cup he should impress.
