CRICKET WORLD CUP ENGLAND
Picture James Anderson is a real find (Allsport).

JAMES ANDERSON

Born: 30.07.82
One-day internationals: 9
Batting: Left Hand (Avge: 2.66)
Bowling: Right Hand Fast Medium (Avge: 28.69)
Catches: 2

Called up from England's Adelaide Academy as a result of the various accidents to the first-choice pace attack Down Under, the Lancashire youngster has so far belied his inexperience with encouraging displays in the VB Series.

England have placed their faith in his ability to rise to the occasion in southern Africa, hoping his raw pace will help him unsettle international batsmen.

It is a gamble which has to an extent been forced on the selectors - and it will be fascinating to see whether it pays off.

As well as having plenty of pace Anderson can move the ball off the seam and is a real find for the future.

As with Steve Harmison the one worry is his accuracy - another rough diamond.
