CRICKET WORLD CUP ENGLAND
Picture Steve Harmison - very quick but still raw.

STEVE HARMISON

Born: 23.10.78
One-day internationals: 5
Batting: Right Hand (Avge: 9.00)
Bowling: Right Hand Fast (Avge: 45.60)
Catches: 3

Harmison has long been noted for his deceptive pace and bounce - and he is beginning to deliver for England after an unpromising start to the Ashes tour.

The suspicion is that the Durham pace bowler may always struggle to maintain accuracy - which could represent a major worry in one-day internationals.

With Andrew Caddick and Darren Gough coming to the end of their careers, someone has to take over the mantle of leading the attack.

Gained the respect of the Australian team for some very quick spells during the Ashes series, when he was England's fastest bowler by far.

But hasn't yet got the knack of finding the line and length needed for the one-day game.

Struggled with wides in the VB Series, and that flaw could really count against him if selected to start in the World Cup.
