Came into the one-day reckoning towards the end of last season and gave a good account of himself in the ICC Champions Trophy in Sri Lanka.
As the latest all-rounder to muscle his way into the side, Blackwell has to compete with the likes of Andy Flintoff, Ronnie Irani and Paul Collingwood for his place. As a left-arm spinner, however, he provides a completely different option to the others and is a worthwhile inclusion in the squad.
