After emerging as a left-arm pace bowler of immense promise, Zaheer made a brilliant debut in the last ICC Knockout in Nairobi in 2000 when his yorkers sent the Australians and South Africans reeling.
But patchy form and lack of physical fitness have been major problems.
Was dropped for a home Test series against England in 2001 but then added an aggressive edge to the new-ball attack on away tours to the West Indies and England.
