Another former skipper of the side, 39-year-old Aasif Karim has been recalled to the Kenyan squad despite retiring after the 1999 World Cup.
A slow left arm bowler who uses flight well, Karim's last ODI game was in his side's defeat against Sri Lanka in May 1999 when he bowled his 10 overs tidily for 0/35 in a total of 275-8.
His inclusion in the squad should benefit Kenya's slow bowling options, while he is sure to provide useful advice to Steve Tikolo.
