A leg-spinner, Brian Murphy will battle for a place in Zimbabwe's team against the more all-round skills of Grant Flower and Doug Marillier.
Murphy was a shock call-up for the Zimbabwe side that toured the West Indies in 2000, and just 18 months later was made captain of the side after Heath Streak resigned.
While his one-day international record with the ball – 24 wickets in 26 games with a reasonable economy rate – is acceptable, his poor record with the bat could count against him.
