Sri Lanka v Kenya

Kenya produced the biggest upset of the World Cup so far with a stunning 53-run win over Sri Lanka in Nairobi.

Collins Obuya claimed a brilliant five for 24 as Sri Lanka were shot out for 157 in response to Kenya's 210 for nine.

Sri Lanka failed to generate any momentum in their reply as they slipped to their first defeat in Pool B.

Aravinda de Silva top-scored with 41 as Sri Lanka, having won their previous three games convincingly with their middle order hardly batting, perhaps became victims of their own success.

Yet Kenya exceeded themselves with a superb performance. Their innings was built around a destructive 60 from opener Kennedy Otieno.

Otieno hit eight fours and two sixes in a blistering attack on the Sri Lanka bowling.

Yet after Muttiah Muralitharan claimed four for 28, their total still looked likely to be inadequate against Sri Lanka's powerful line-up.

However only Russel Arnold, with an unbeaten 25, could muster any further resistance.

Maurice Odumbe duly wrapped up proceedings by claiming the wicket of Dilhara Fernando to leave Kenya, with three wins under their belt, with realistic hopes of making the Super Six.

Kenya now move above Sri Lanka to the top of Pool B with 12 points from their four games.

Having already beaten Canada and gained all four points from their forfeited match against New Zealand, the Super Sixes are now a real possibility.

The African minnows have games against group strugglers Bangladesh and the West Indies still to come.
