Undoubtedly the most picturesque of the older West Indian grounds, the Queen's Park Oval has seen many changes over the last 18 months in readiness for the World Cup circus.
The centrepiece of the redevelopment is the stunning new pavilion. Almost two-and-a-half times larger than the old structure, the new pavilion will eventually house a museum, library, gym and entertainment centre.
The Queen's Park Oval has hosted matches since the late 19th Century, but for almost 40 years the wicket was clay with matting on top, as damage caused by the mole-cricket meant natural grass pitches couldn't be maintained.
The fans on the Learie Constantine Stand - also known as the 'Concrete Stand' - are among the most passionate and excitable in the Caribbean, and ensure that the atmosphere is rarely dull in Port of Spain.
