  • Powerplay overs in red.

West Indies (204 for four) beat Zimbabwe (202 for five) by six wickets with 2.1 overs remaining.

A thorough performance from the Windies. Zimbabwe will be pleased that Brendan Taylor and Sean Williams got some runs but need to get their pacemen stepping up to the plate a bit more with the ball. For the Windies, Bravo's show with the bat was a goodie and Chris Gayle's knock at the top of the order was pleasing. That's it from us. Spot you at the next match. Cheers.

Over 47.5: Lara blocks out the first three balls causing a bit of concern as the required rate rises. But then smashes a four through the covers and then launches a six over mid-wicket to bring on the win.
    West Indies 204/4 (RR: 4.26): Bravo 37* (46), Lara 44* (68)

Over 47: Bravo tries to go huge, does not middle and gets an edge past the 'keeper for four. Lara picks up a couple and now the target is less than 10. No upsets here today.
    West Indies 194/4 (RR: 4.12): Bravo 37* (46), Lara 34* (63)
West Indies need 9 runs to win from 3 overs at 3.00 runs per over.

Over 46: Bravo pulls high and substitute fielder Gary Brent drops the catch down at fine-leg as his sunglasses falling off his cap get in the way at his second grab at the catch. Bravo gets a life and quietly plays out the rest of the over with Lara chipping in with a couple of balls faced himself.
    West Indies 187/4 (RR: 4.06): Bravo 33* (44), Lara 31* (59)
West Indies need 16 runs to win from 4 overs at 4.00 runs per over.

Over 45: Two more runs for the West Indian's who have less than 20 runs to get now. Lara and Bravo have done a really good thing with this partnership, steadying a ship that could quite easily have fallen apart at the fall of the fourth wicket.
    West Indies 184/4 (RR: 4.08): Bravo 32* (42), Lara 30* (55)
West Indies need 19 runs to win from 5 overs at 3.80 runs per over.

Over 44: Windies edge closer and close with four more runs in the over as Chigumbura puts down a catch off his own bowling. That balls sure was smacked and had he taken that there would have been serious reason for celebration.
    West Indies 182/4 (RR: 4.13): Bravo 32* (40), Lara 29* (51)
West Indies need 21 runs to win from 6 overs at 3.50 runs per over.

Over 43: Bravo cashes in on some poor length as he lambastes a four through the covers and smashes a huge six over square-leg. Before that Lara bags a single off the first ball fo the over as has been the norm for the last couple of overs.
    West Indies 178/4 (RR: 4.13): Bravo 32* (37), Lara 26* (48)
West Indies need 25 runs to win from 7 overs at 3.57 runs per over.

Mpofu replaces Utseya in the attack.

Over 42: Bravo shuffles across his stumps and forces a two, Lara gets a single and Bravo slams his bat into the ground in frustration as he fails to get a dolly of a delivery away for runs. That pretty much highlights the over hey.
    West Indies 167/4 (RR: 3.97): Bravo 22* (32), Lara 25* (47)
West Indies need 36 runs to win from 8 overs at 4.50 runs per over.

Over 41: Utseya completes a really tight spell with another great over of economical spin as both Lara and Samuels struggle to get him off the square for the majority of the over's proceedings.
    West Indies 164/4 (RR: 4.00): Bravo 20* (27), Lara 24* (46)
West Indies need 39 runs to win from 9 overs at 4.33 runs per over.

Over 40: Chigumbura's returning over is not effective as he bowls a leg-side wide, followed by a couple of dots to Lara after which Lara smashes him over point for a four. Nice one Brian.
    West Indies 162/4 (RR: 4.05): Bravo 18* (21), Lara 24* (46)
West Indies need 41 runs to win from 10 overs at 4.10 runs per over.

Chigumbura is back into the attack.

Over 39: Two more singles for Lara and one for Bravo as the spin of Utseya ain't doing the wicket-taking job at the moment. Perhaps another change of bowling is in order, a bit of pace maybe.
    West Indies 157/4 (RR: 4.02): Bravo 18* (21), Lara 20* (40)
West Indies need 46 runs to win from 11 overs at 4.18 runs per over.

Over 38: Bravo comes down the track to Williams and gets another two, then pulling his last ball of the over through square-leg for a really hard-hit four.
    West Indies 154/4 (RR: 4.05): Bravo 17* (19), Lara 18* (37)
West Indies need 49 runs to win from 12 overs at 4.08 runs per over.

Over 37: A three past the 'keeper and three singles sum up a rather average over from Utseya's returning over.
    West Indies 146/4 (RR: 3.94): Bravo 10* (14), Lara 17* (35)
West Indies need 57 runs to win from 13 overs at 4.38 runs per over.

Over 36: Lara pushes for a quick single after which Bravo dances down the track and launches a full-toss over cow-corner for a big six. Then he collects just a single.
    West Indies 140/4 (RR: 3.88): Bravo 8* (11), Lara 13* (32)
West Indies need 63 runs to win from 14 overs at 4.50 runs per over.

    West Indies 133/4 (RR: 3.80): Bravo 2* (7), Lara 12* (30)
West Indies need 70 runs to win from 15 overs at 4.66 runs per over.

Over 34: Williams gets quite a bit of turn in his opening over coupled with some nice bounce. Bravo gets off the mark with a single and Lara collects one more.
    West Indies 131/4 (RR: 3.85): Bravo 1* (4), Lara 11* (28)
West Indies need 72 runs to win from 16 overs at 4.50 runs per over.

Sean Williams is into the attack.

    WICKET
    M Samuels c Chibhabha b Mupariwa 28 (48)

Three more singles all around the ground followed by a somewhat lose shot sees the end of a promising start from Samuels. The loose drive finding the point fielder.

Over 32: Utseya goes for four more singles one of which brings up Brian Lara's 1000th World Cup run. The man is simply great.

West Indies need 77 runs to win from 18 overs at 4.27 runs per over.

West Indies need 81 runs to win from 19 overs at 4.26 runs per over.

West Indies need 83 runs to win from 20 overs at 4.15 runs per over.

The legendary Brian Lara is the new man out in the middle.

    WICKET
    R Sarwan c and b Ireland 12 (19)

Ouch! Soft dismissal as Sarwan spoons a standard half-volley back to the bowler off the last ball of the over. Things were looking good for Sarwan earlier in the over as he smashed a four over the covers and looked solid in his approach at the other deliveries after a Samuels single.

Over 24: Two more singles each for Sarwan and Samuels as Utseya is picked off in front of the wicket thanks to some fairly ordinary spinner from Utseya.
    West Indies 101/2 (RR: 4.20): Samuels 14* (24), Sarwan 8* (14)

Brilliant! Gayle edges the first ball of the over to wicketkeeper Brendan Taylor who gets a glove to it but it bounces off his glove. Sibanda is wrong-footed at first slip but picks up a one-handed reflex catch after Taylor's offence. Great stuff Vusi!

Mpofu is back into the attack too.

Time for the third and final powerplay.
