pakistan name new selectors

The Pakistan Cricket Board has appointed a new selection committee following the team's poor performance at the World Cup.

The three-member committee will be headed by former Test all-rounder Salahuddin Ahmad, who will be closely assisted by Shafqat Rana and Saleem Jaffar, both of whom also played Test cricket for Pakistan.

All three were carefully selected by the PCB in consultation with ad-hoc committee members, and face a tough task to rebuild morale amongst the team, who were humiliated by Ireland at the sport's showpiece event in the Caribbean last month.

Coupled with their opening defeat to hosts West Indies, the team were eliminated.

Coach Bob Woolmer was killed in his Kingston hotel room a day later, followed by the resignation and retirement from one-day international cricket of captain Inzamam-ul-Haq.
