cricket inquiry turns to cyclists
Brailsford - British cycling chief.
Ken Schofield, the man charged with getting to the root of England's cricket woes, has sought help from Britain's world-leading cycling programme.
Schofield is preparing a major independent review instigated by the England and Wales Cricket Board in the wake of last winter's Ashes whitewash.
And he has asked for advice from Dave Brailsford, performance director of the British cycling team who won seven gold medals at last month's World Championships.
The contact was revealed by British Cycling president Brian Cookson in his monthly blog.
Cookson said: "It certainly seems that our reputation as a sport is indeed growing.
"The latest people to sit up and take notice are the leaders of our national (well, English and possibly Welsh) summer sport, cricket.
"The recent failures of the England cricket team have prompted a major independent review to be commissioned.
"This week, Ken Schofield rang me as part of his research and we had a long conversation about the reasons for the current levels of success that we are enjoying as a sport, the structures and focus that lay behind it, and the strategy that leads it."
