Notes
The following points system applies: Win: 2 points Tie/No Result: 1 point Defeat: 0 points.
Group Stage (Groups A-D)
If two or more teams finish level on points, positions will be determined by:
1. Most wins in the Group Stage 2. If still level, highest Net Run-Rate 3. If still level, highest wickets taken per balls bowled 4. If still level, the winner of the match between the teams 5. In the unlikely event that teams cannot be separated by methods 1-4, then the positions will be decided by drawing lots.
If all three matches in a group are abandoned, then the two seeded teams shall progress to the Super Eight stage.
Super Eight (Groups E and F)
If two or more teams finish level on points, positions will be determined by: 1. Most wins in the Super Eight Stage 2. If still level, highest Net Run-Rate 3. If still level, highest wickets taken per balls bowled 4. If still level, the winner of the match between the teams 5. In the unlikely event that teams cannot be separated by methods 1-4, then the positions will be decided by drawing lots.
If all of the matches in a Super Eight Group are a no result, for the the teams will be ordered by their Group Stage performance as follows: most points, most wins, net run rate. Any teams that can not be separated in this way shall be ranked by their original seedings for the tournament.
Net Run Rate Calculation:
Net run-rate is calculated by deducting the average runs per over scored against a side during that stage of the competitiion from the average runs per over scored by that side.
If a side is bowled out, the average runs per over is calculated against the complete allocation of overs, not the amount actually used.
Seedings
Teams retain their seeding regardless of their actual finishing position in the Group Stage.
So, for example, if England win Group B with Pakistan second, England will still be B2 and Pakistan will still be B1.
If an unseeded team progresses, they will take the seeding of the team eliminated.
Thus, if England and Netherlands qualify from Group B, Netherlands will be B1. If Pakistan and Netherlands qualify, Netherlands will be B2.
