The 26-year-old, who won the last of his 71 limited-overs caps for his adopted country in January last year, has since lost his England place to former county team-mate Jos Buttler.

After signing his new three-year deal, Kieswetter said: "I am absolutely over the moon for this opportunity to be able to commit myself further to Somerset.

"I love playing for Somerset. It's my home, and I am so excited about the next three years."

South Africa-born Kieswetter has scored more than 14,000 runs across the formats, including 11 first-class centuries.
