Wicketkeeper Jayawardene hurt his finger during the drawn first Test at Lord's, but batted through the pain for an hour as the tourists salvaged a last-ditch draw on Monday.

Vithanage, who played against England in last month's one-off Twenty20 at The Oval, was not chosen for the one-day international or Test series.

But Sri Lanka Cricket has confirmed the 23-year-old left-hander will be added to the squad for the final Test at Headingley, where it is likely either Dinesh Chandimal or Kaushal Silva will keep wicket.
