Mahendra Singh Dhoni helped Chennai Super Kings beat Rajasthan Royals with two balls to spare to move top of the Indian Premier League table.

The Super Kings needed 12 off the last over and, after Ravindra Jadeja took a single off the first ball, skipper Dhoni (26no) clouted seamer James Faulkner for six, two and three to see his side home by five wickets.

Earlier, Rajasthan notched 148 for eight off their 20 overs, with captain Shane Watson top scoring with 51, while Mohit Sharma took three for 31.

The result in Tuesday's fixture in Ranchi pushed the Chennai franchise two points clear of Kings XI Punjab, who will have the opportunity to go back level in Wednesday's showdown with the Sunrisers Hyderabad in Uppal.

Yuvraj Singh hit an unbeaten 68 as Bangalore Royal Challengers beat Delhi Daredevils by 16 runs to boost their play-off hopes.

Yuvraj hit nine sixes and one four in a blistering 29-ball innings as Bangalore, who had been put into bat, finished on 186 for four.

In reply, bottom side Delhi could only muster 170 for seven; JP Duminy's 48 the top score, while skipper Kevin Pietersen found some form with a 29-ball 33.
