Wright is the only non-Australian player named among eight finalists for the award, which will be announced on February 3.
Wright, the competition's third highest run-scorer after hitting 275 runs at an average of 34.37, is joined on the list by Melbourne Stars team-mates Jackson Bird, Brad Hodge and John Hastings.
Former Australia batsmen Mike Hussey (Sydney Thunder) is also up for the award alongside Ben Dunk (Hobart Hurricanes), Moises Henriques (Sydney Sixers) and Chris Lynn (Brisbane Heat).
The Stars went through the group stage unbeaten and will host the Hurricanes at the MCG in the semi-finals on February 4.
