The Kia Oval will host a one-off Twenty20 international on May 20 and the first of five one-day internationals two days later, with the remainder of that series taking in Chester-le-Street on May 25, Old Trafford on May 28, Lord's on May 31 and Edgbaston on June 3.
Two Tests follow, at Lord's from June 12-16 and Headingley from June 20-24.
The ODI at Chester-le-Street remains in place as part of a revised international schedule agreed in May between Durham and the ECB. The county handed back a T20 match against India next summer and an ODI against Australia the following year.
ECB chief executive David Collier said: "We look forward to welcoming Sri Lanka again to this country and anticipate that they will provide strong opposition for England in all formats of the game in what promises to be another hugely exciting programme of international cricket next summer with Sri Lanka and India as our touring teams."
The last time Sri Lanka visited England, in 2011, the hosts won a three-match Test series 1-0 and a five-match ODI series 3-2.
