The former West Indies captain - who played in 54 Tests and 127 ODIs - took up the post in 2012.

Adams said: "I am extremely pleased that the county has seen fit to extend my contract to 2014.

"I look forward to this continued involvement with the county, and with it, the opportunity to work with an exciting and talented group of players".

Kent chairman Graham Johnson said: "We are absolutely delighted with Jimmy's further commitment to Kent.

"2012 was very encouraging - he took the role with a desire to create something sustainable at Kent Cricket.

"It's great that we can now plan with him to build on his first year over the next two seasons."
