The Yorkshire batsman, who has been a revelation in England's tour of India, brushed aside suggestions that the fifth one-day international has little riding on it due to the hosts' unassailable 3-1 lead in the series.

Root has every reason to be enthusiastic, having made his debut in all three formats in the last couple of months and earned rave reviews for his performances.

He has been drafted into all squads for next month's tour of New Zealand

"Obviously we're disappointed with the way the series has gone as a team. Individually we've got a lot to play for," he said.

"We've got a big series coming up in New Zealand and a lot of people who want to put forward a strong case before that.

"Any international game is one you want to win. Playing for your country has a lot riding on it. Everyone in our changing room has got that mentality going into tomorrow.

"You don't know how many international games you are going to play so i just want to enjoy every minute of it, absorb it and make the most of it."

England will consider changes, with seamers Stuart Meaker and Chris Woakes likely to see action in place of Jade Dernbach and Tim Bresnan, who will miss the entire New Zealand tour due to an elbow problem.

Spinner Danny Briggs would surely have been in line for his first match of the winter too, but sprained his ankle in a fitness session.
