Mohammad Irfan gets Test call

Pakistan have included seven-foot quick Mohammad Irfan in their Test squad for the upcoming tour of South Africa.

Irfan: Test chance

Irfan, 30, is uncapped in Tests but impressed during the recent one-day international series win over India to force his way into the 16-man party for the three-Test series.

The Indian batsmen were troubled by the left-armer's height and bounce - characteristics that are likely to be accentuated by the South African pitches.

Irfan is one of five changes to the squad which also includes Nasir Jamshed - player of the ODI series in India after back-to-back centuries - Ehsan Adil, Haris Sohail and wicketkeeper Sarfraz Ahmed.

The players left out of the team that lost 1-0 in Sri Lanka last July are Aizaz Cheema, Mohammad Sami, Mohammad Ayub, Afaq Raheem and Adnan Akmal while Umar Akmal continues to be overlooked.

Mohammad Rizwan and wicketkeeper Tanvir Ahmed have been named as reserve players.

The first Test begins in Johannesburg on February 1.

Pakistan Test squad: Misbah-ul-Haq (capt), Mohammad Hafeez, Nasir Jamshed, Azhar Ali, Umar Gul, Asad Shafiq, Younis Khan, Junaid Khan, Mohammad Irfan, Ehsan Adil, Saeed Ajmal, Adbur Rehman, Haris Sohail, Faisal Iqbal, Taufeeq Umar, Sarfraz Ahmed (wk).
