Shahid Afridi, Saeed Ajmal and Umar Akmal have been refused permission to play in the forthcoming Big Bash Twenty20 tournament in Australia.

Shahid Afridi: Won't be at the Big Bash

The Pakistan Cricket Board have ordered the three players to remain at home to prepare for next month's tour of India.

All three had signed agreements to feature in Australia's domestic 20-over competition, but the PCB want the trio to play in Pakistan's home equivalent.

Big-hitting all-rounder Afridi had signed to play for the Sydney Thunder, while spinner Ajmal was due to play for the Adelaide Strikers and the Sydney Sixers had agreed terms with batsman Umar.

The trio will now remain in Pakistan ahead of the series against their arch-rivals, which starts at the end of December and features two Twenty20 matches and three one-day internationals.

PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf said: "Since the Big Bash was clashing with our Twenty20 tournament we have asked the players to feature in the national event so that selectors can check their form and fitness for the selection of the squad for India.

Ashraf also revealed that Afridi had already offered to cancel his contract with the Thunder to play in Pakistan's domestic Twenty20 series.
