After Michael Clarke declared Australia's second innings on their overnight 132/3 to set England a world-record chase of 531 to win or two full days to survive for a draw, the tourists reached 247/6 at stumps.

There is rain forecast for Adelaide on Monday, which looks the only way England could realistically escape with a draw, which is available at 13/2 while a record-smashing England win is 50/1.

England past 200 for the first time in the series at the fourth attempt thanks in large part to Joe Root, who made 87 at number three and at one stage, when he and Kevin Pietersen (53) were sharing a century stand, the tourists were as short as 12/1 with Australia out to 2/7.

But despite showing some fight, England lost regular wickets and it's now down to Matt Prior, Stuart Broad and the tail to try and pull off a miracle. The England runs line is 5/6 either side of 315.5 runs, while Broad is 8/13 to be next man out. Prior is 6/5.
