The 22-year-old has not featured in the series so far, and the England and Wales Cricket Board have now confirmed he will play no part in the series finale, with England leading 3-0.
Bairstow will instead be available for Yorkshire's LV= County Championship Division Two match against Hampshire, which starts on Wednesday.
Having struggled during the recent Test series against the West Indies, Bairstow will be looking to score heavily in that match at The Rose Bowl in a bid to convince the England selectors to stick with him for the forthcoming matches against South Africa.
The first of three Tests starts on July 19.
