The Royal Challengers recovered from a poor start with the bat to surpass their opponents' total of 115-9 with 15 balls remaining in Abu Dhabi.

Although they were defending a very modest score Mumbai still looked to be in with a chance when they reduced Bangalore to 17-3 as Zaheer Khan struck twice in three balls. But Parthiv Patel and AB de Villiers put on an unbroken stand of 99 to bring home the win and maintain their side's unbeaten start to the season.

Opener Patel smashed an unbeaten 54 from just 45 balls, including seven fours, while de Villiers hit the only six of the match in his 45 not out from 48 deliveries. Mumbai had earlier struggled to maintain a competitive run rate as a Bangalore attack including Mitchell Starc (2-21) and Yuzvendra Chahal (2-17) kept things economical.

Ambati Rayudu produced the only score of note during the innings, working away 35 runs from 37 balls before falling to Starc.

Corey Anderson was the second-highest scorer with 18, while Varun Aaron (2-30) and Ashok Dindal, who conceded just 14 runs in four overs, were the other bowling standouts for Bangalore.
