Captain Charlotte Edwards led the way with 80 as England - who were beaten by the West Indies in their opening fixture at the tournament - posted a total of 137-5 at Sylhet Stadium.

Edwards hit 11 fours in her 69-ball knock at the top of the England order before becoming the fifth and final wicket to fall when she was stumped off the bowling of Salma Khatun in the 19th over.

Natalie Scriver added 20 from 16 deliveries and Heather Knight made an unbeaten 18, including two boundaries, after the innings had been faltering a little at 49-3.

The host nation never threatened to reach their target of 138 in reply, ending up on 59-9 from their 20 overs.

Danni Hazell and all-rounder Sciver claimed fine figures of 3-4 four 3-10 respectively, the former removing three of the top four as only three Bangladesh batters reached double figures.

England are next in action against Sri Lanka on Sunday.
