Zimbabwe's Vusi Sibanda held his nerve to hit a match-winning six off the last ball of his side's World Twenty20 first-round match against the Netherlands in Sylhet.

After a last-ball defeat to Ireland in their opening game, Zimbabwe faced more late drama but this time came out on top as Sibanda thrashed Ahsan Malik over long-on with the scores tied.

Defeat would have ended Zimbabwe's hopes of progressing from Group B to the Super 10 stage, but their five-wicket win keeps hopes alive.

The Netherlands posted a decent total of 140 for five having chosen to bat first, a significant turnaround from a position of 35 for four in the fifth over.

Prosper Utseya struck twice with the new ball, Tinashe Panyangara also chipping in with the scalp of Wesley Barresi.

Tom Cooper, whose presence as a late injury replacement has caused controversy, then took control as his 72 not out dominated partnerships with brother Ben Cooper (20) and Mudassar Bukhari (14no).

Hamilton Masakadza and Brendan Taylor looked to be cruising at 87 for one, but Pieter Seelar struck twice in three balls to see off Masakadza for 43 and new man Elton Chigumbura without scoring.

Taylor made 49 before falling with 15 still needed but Sean Williams (26) scored important runs before Sibanda struck the decisive blow.
