A late blitz by Albie Morkel (18 not out) and Srikkanth Anirudha (18no) saw the Super Kings home, the pair putting on 43 runs in just two overs as the visitors reached their victory target of 127 in 18.1 overs.

Suresh Raina top-scored for Chennai, who moved up to fourth in the table, with 23 runs.

Ben Hilfenhaus and Yo Mahesh both weighed in with two wickets apiece when the Super Kings restricted their hosts to 126 from their 20 overs.

Brad Hodge's 33 was the pick of the performances by the Royals batsmen.

In the day's early game, Australian David Warner smashed a stunning century to give Delhi Daredevils a comprehensive nine-wicket victory over Deccan Chargers and take them top of the standings.

The home side appeared to have posted a competitive total when they made 187 for four from their 20 overs.

Shikhar Dhawan made 84 from 49 balls and Cameron White added 65 from 40 balls as Deccan scored at more than nine runs an over.

But Warner put those achievements firmly in the shade as he made 109 not out from just 54 balls, hammering 10 fours and seven sixes.

Naman Ojha also thrashed five sixes in his 64 not out from 46 balls following the dismissal of Virender Sehwag as Delhi cruised to 193 for one with 20 balls to spare.
