  • Sri Lanka win by 100 runs

Doesn't really do justice to the astonishing drama of that remarkable final day. Stunning effort from Moeen Ali in just his second Test match, and Anderson a whisker away from adding another great escape to his record. Two Test matches decided in the final over. Just incredible.
  • Anderson c Herath b Eranga 0

Amazing! The penultimate delivery of the Test match is fended into the legside and Anderson is gone! Sri Lanka win by 100 runs.
  • SIx balls to go

    Eranga to bowl them.
  • Over 116 - England 249/9 (Moeen 108, Anderson 0)

Couple of bouncers from Prasad. Wasteful, but Billy gives him another chance by signalling one of them a wide. One over to go. There will be no time for any more. The second Test in a row comes down to the last over. What a sport this is.
  • Gloves

England timewasting for all they're worth now. Gloves coming out, drinks coming out. Anything to make sure there are only two overs rather than three.
  • Over 115 - England 248/9 (Moeen 108, Anderson 0)

Huge lbw appeal against Anderson, but he's outside the line. Nine minutes remaining. May well still be three overs left here. Meanwhile, it's a half-century for Anderson. In balls faced. Heroic.
  • Over 114 - England 248/9 (Moeen 108, Anderson 0)

Mathews into the attack. Would be undeniably fitting if he got the last wicket. But there's no way past Moeen. Minimum three overs left or, perhaps more importantly, 12 minutes.
  • Over 113 - England 248/9 (Moeen 108, Anderson 0)

Another Herath over ticks by. Sri Lanka racing through them, though; might get an extra one in. There are still 16 minutes to play. Moeen plays out the first four before pushing into the gap at cover for a single. Anderson leaves the last ball of the over.
  • Over 112 - England 247/9 (Moeen 107, Anderson 0)

Anderson defends Eranga into the offside off the back foot a couple of times. Looks solid there, so in comes the silly-point to make him think twice. Good decision. Anderson definitely less sure of himself for the rest of the over, but he gets through it. Five overs to go. What a remarkable day's cricket this has been.
  • Over 111 - England 247/9 (Moeen 107, Anderson 0)

There it is! Moeen tickles Pradeep down to the fine-leg boundary to reach a quite brilliant hundred. Sensational effort. Picks up two more runs with a drive through point. Runs flowing now, as Moeen steers the fourth ball of the over past gully for another boundary.
  • Over 110 - England 237/9 (Moeen 97, Anderson 0)

Herath changes ends. Moeen blocks three balls before skipping down the track and working into the legside for a single. He moves to 97. Anderson has two balls to survive. Lunges forward and gets the job done. Seven overs - 42 balls - to go.
  • Over 109 - England 236/9 (Moeen 96, Anderson 0)

Anderson somehow gets through an over from Eranga. Swipes at one, fends at another, but gets through it.
  • Change

That's that plan scuppered. Eranga back on, Herath off.
  • Over 108 - England 236/9 (Moeen 96, Anderson 0)

Another maiden over. Starting to think England aren't going to get these runs. This pair seem to have decided that Moeen's taking the pace and Jimmy taking the spin.
  • Over 107 - England 236/9 (Moeen 96, Anderson 0)

Anderson survives. Wants a single from the last ball of the over. Moeen having none of that. Ten overs to go.
  • Over 106 - England 236/9 (Moeen 96, Anderson 0)

Moeen misses out on a juicy full-toss from Prasad and remains four short of a century. Drills a drive back at the bowler next ball, but Prasad makes a smart stop in his followthrough. More importantly, Moeen is unable to find a single at the back end of the over, so Sri Lanka have Anderson on strike.
  • Over 105 - England 236/9 (Moeen 96, Anderson 0)

Herath back on. Moeen resists the temptation to look for his century, blocking the first three balls before once again taking a single to leave Anderson two to survive. He does the job.
  • Over 104 - England 235/9 (Moeen 95, Anderson 0)

Moeen has a big booming drive outside the off stump as Eranga offers width. Makes no contact. Takes a single from the fourth ball of the over to leave Jimmy two to survive. The first is a decent yorker that's well dug out, and fends the last ball of the over safely into the legside.
  • Over 103 - England 234/9 (Moeen 94, Anderson 0)

Prasad steaming in now, a vision of wild-eyed mania as he bombards Anderson with short balls. England's number 11 comes through it, taking a couple of blows along the way but preserving his wicket.
  • Last hour

Into the last hour we go. Fifteen overs to be bowled.
