  • Game over!

The umpires and coaches decide it's not worth hanging about and call the match. It goes down as a no-result, and the next game will be on Saturday 16 June at the same venue. Join us for the action then!
  • Rain delay

12-2 - The covers came off... and then they went back on again. It's still raining, I'm afraid.
  • Over 6.2 Mathews 0-0 - Rain delay

12-2 - It's started to rain properly now, so the umpires made the right call. Stay tuned!
  • Rain delay

12-2 - They're going off as it's started to rain again, and the umpires are concerned about the pitch so are getting it covered up. It's not really raining much, but they seem to be watching the bank of clouds rolling in and decide to err on the side of caution.
  • Over 6 Kulasekara 0-1-0-0-0-W

12-2 - Kulasekara's line is good, and he induces some flashes outside off-stump, before WICKET! He strikes Azhar Ali outside the line of off-stump, but the umpire gives it and Pakistan can feel aggrieved here.
  • Over 5 Malinga 1-0-0-1-0-4

11-1 - Pakistan are hardly blazing away here, and with the outfield wet and slow, they're picking up singles by nudging the ball off hips and pads. The final delivery is a boundary but it's a lucky one as Maliga fires in a yorker and Shafiq just-just gets the toe of the bat on it and sends it to the fine leg fence.
  • Over 4 Kulasekara 0-0-0-0-0-2

5-1 - Two slips in place, but the right-handed Shafiq wants nothing to do with the seamer's bid to have the batsman toy with one outside his off-stump. He has learnt from Hafeez's dismissal.
  • Over 3 Malinga 0-0-0-0-0-2

3-1 - Sri Lanka seem set for their second maiden on the trot, but Ali eventually finds the gap through point and cover for a couple. He is tentative at best off the frontfoot, with a shaky string of shot selection from deep in the crease not inspiring much confidence for the moment.
  • Over 2 Kulasekara 0-0-0-0-0-0

1-1 - Plenty of superb in-swingers from the right-arm seamer to Shafiq, who is found wanting on a couple of occasions. A tiny inside edge saves him from a decent shout for lbw, while the edge is evaded on another occasion as the ball misses the off-stump by a whisker.
  • Over 1 Malinga 0-0-W-1-0

1-1 - WICKET! The recipient of three ducks on the trot in T20I cricket recently, Hafeez has one in ODI competition too. He poked at a beautiful outswinger from the pace ace, with the feathered edge screaming to Sangakkara. It got a bit big on the wicketkeeper, but he got his hands high enough to pouch the catch safely in the end. Shafiq, eager to justify his selection ahead of Rahat, at the crease now.
  • Play Resumes

All and sundry back out in the middle. Hafeez and Ali to resume for Pakistan, while Malinga has an over broken by the rain to complete.
  • It's Official

Play will resume at 15:45 local time (10:15 GMT). That's four minutes from now. No reduction from now. The innings break, though has been reduced by 10 minutes.
  • Inspection

Proceedings have been halted for almost an hour now. The rain has stopped, yes, but the groundstaff remain hard at work. A considerable amount of mopping up has been done. The umpires are out in the middle, inspection conditions. All the covers are off.
  • Weather Update At 15:01 Local Time (09:31 GMT)

The rain has relented, the covers are steadily being peeled off the ground, which ha't copped too much water. The sun has broken through the clouds too. A resumption in play is imminent.
  • Rain Delay

About 80 percent of the ground is protected by covers now, and the rain is really pelting down now. And so the wait continues at 14:39 local time (09:09 GMT).
  • 0.1 Malinga 0

0-0 - Play lasts all of one delivery, which Hafeez at least gets bat to on the defence, before the showers return to force all and sundry off the field.
  • Pakistan's Innings

Batsmen Hafeez and Ali, umpires Paul Reiffel and Asoka de Silva and the Sri Lankan XI head out to the middle for the start of play. Match referee, Chris Broad, by the way, is officiating in his 300th international match today.
  • Conditions

Rain starts to fall shortly after the toss, but just as the covers are dragged across the pitch, the showers relent and the groundstaff are asked to backtrack. It's very hot and humid in Colombo today, and a slight drizzle - as long as it doe't delay proceedings - would be something of a welcome relief. That probably wouldn't suit the pitch, though, which is expected to be a slow affair, with a bit of skid - more than pace - on offer for the seamers. Going on the last five ODIs here, 240-plus should be a competitive score for the team batting first.
  • Sri Lanka XI

Tillakaratne Dilshan, Upul Tharanga, Mahela Jayawarden, Dinesh Chandimal, Kumar Sangakkara, Lahiru Thirimanne, Angelo Mathews, Thisara Perera, Nuwan Kulasekara, Lasith Malinga, Sajeewa Weerakoon.
  • Pakistan XI

Mohammad Hafeez, Azhar Ali, Asad Shafiq, Younis Khan, Misbah-ul-Haq, Umar Akmal, Shahid Afridi, Sarfraz Ahmed, Umar Gul, Saeed Ajmal, Sohail Tanvir.
