Leicestershire all-rounder Wayne White produced career-best performances with both bat and ball to inspire the Foxes to their second NatWest Pro 40 victory of the season against Glamorgan Dragons at Grace Road.

White hit an unbeaten 46 from 45 balls as the Foxes posted 217 for eight after winning the toss.

The 23-year-old then snapped up four wickets for 36 runs in 7.5 overs to help dismiss the Dragons for 194, giving the hosts victory by 23 runs.

It leaves the Dragons rooted to the bottom of the table and still searching for their first win of the season in the competition, despite a heroic effort from 22-year-old batsman William Bragg.

He produced a career-best innings of 78 before becoming ninth man out as the Dragons' innings folded against some excellent Leicestershire bowling.

On a slow-paced pitch, the Foxes' total always looked competitive after they had recovered from a shaky start.

They lost opener James Benning (two) in the third over, but recovered with a stand of 62 in 10 overs between Tom New and Jacques du Toit.

Wicketkeeper New, who received his county cap along with James Taylor before the start, made 34 and Du Toit 31. Both of them fell victim to seamer David Harrison, who finished with two for 32.

But it was the innings of White, along with that of Foxes captain Boeta Dippenaar, that was the centrepiece of the home side's efforts.

Dippenaar made 49 before edging a catch to wicketkeeper Mark Wallace off Mark Cosgrove, and White, who hit six fours, ensured that the late-order batsmen helped to boost the total.

The Foxes scored 48 runs off the last five overs, with 16 coming off the 39th over, which was bowled by Cosgrove.

Apart from Bragg, the Glamorgan batsmen never really came to terms with the slowness of the pitch and the variable bounce as the home attack picked up wickets at regular intervals.

The best stand of Glamorgan's innings was between Bragg and Tom Maynard, who put on 75 in 12 overs for the fourth wicket, before Maynard was caught in the deep to become one of White's four victims.

Bragg, who had never scored a limited-overs half-century before, was finally out in the 38th over, having made 78 off 93 balls, with a six and seven other boundaries.

Teenager Nathan Buck claimed two for 38, but White emerged the hero with his all-round performance that helped the Foxes move up to fifth in the nine-team table.
