Nottinghamshire rescued a draw from their Championship match with relegation-threatened Hampshire thanks to Mark Wagh's third hundred of the season.
The 32-year-old produced a chanceless innings in an unbeaten 136, hitting 20 fours from 249 balls, to ensure Notts escaped with 10 points, while Hampshire collected 12.
Wagh received good support from Samit Patel (48) and veteran Ali Brown (37 not out) as Notts reached 271-4 before both sides agreed to the draw.
The result will please neither team, as Notts lost further ground on runaway leaders Durham at the top of the table, while Hampshire remain very much in danger of the drop after failing to force a win despite amassing 654-8 declared in their first innings.
After being bowled out in their first innings for 407 at the close of day three, it was no surprise to see Hampshire skipper Dimitri Mascarenhas invite the hosts to follow-on at the start of play, still 247 behind.
They got off to the perfect start when Notts opener Scott Newman, on loan from Surrey until the end of the season, was caught behind by wicketkeeper Tom Burrows for a duck off the third ball of the day from David Griffiths.
As has been the case all too often in the past two seasons, Wagh found himself at the crease inside the first 10 overs, but gave a glimpse of things to come with the first of many leg glances for four off Mascarenhas.
He pushed the score on to 48 with Matthew Wood before Wood was trapped lbw by a ball that seamed back from Mascarenhas.
But a third wicket partnership of 110 in 35 overs between Wagh and Patel eased any nerves in the home dressing room, as the pair settled in on what was a flat and slow Trent Bridge wicket.
Patel hit some pleasant shots through the covers off Imran Tahir before the Pakistani leg-spinner removed him thanks to an excellent reaction catch from Michael Lumb at silly point.
When Bilal Shafayat was bowled 10 overs later by Tahir's top-spinner, making room to cut, Notts were still 64 behind, but it would have taken a major collapse to have given Hampshire the time to earn a win.
Instead Wagh pushed on to his century with Brown providing solid back-up, and the pair reached tea on 218-4.
A further 53 runs were added in the evening session before hands were shaken at 4.50pm, with Notts 24 ahead.
