Nick Compton clubbed the third one-day century of his career as Middlesex beat Glamorgan by 63 runs at Cardiff to go top of the NatWest Pro40 League Division Two table with their third victory.
On a slow Cardiff pitch Compton scored 121 from 105 balls as Middlesex, who won the toss, made an imposing 254 for three from their 40 overs.
In reply, Glamorgan were given some hope with a brilliant 69 from 51 balls from Tom Maynard before they were restricted to 191 all out in 35.2 overs.
They were not helped by star batsman Herschelle Gibbs only making seven as they were reduced to 56 for three within the first 13 overs.
At the start Glamorgan struggled to prevent Middlesex's accumulation of runs, and it was a test for wicketkeeper Mark Wallace, who was leading the Welsh county for the first time in a one-day contest. He was deputising for Jamie Dalrymple, sidelined with a stomach bug.
Compton and Dawid Malan put on 105 for the first wicket in 19 overs before Malan, with a 55-ball 50, was caught at long-on off slow left-armer Dean Cosker.
And it was spin which pegged the Middlesex innings back, albeit briefly, with Robert Croft producing an economical spell of eight overs for 33 runs.
At the other end Cosker should have had the wicket of Compton for 61 but Garnett Kruger made a hash of a catch at long-on which he deflected for four. Compton went on to put on 73 with Owais Shah, who was stumped by Wallace off Cosker for 36 from 49 balls.
Compton celebrated his 100 with an extraordinary lap for six over fine leg off Kruger but he finally fell to Glamorgan new signing Jim Allenby but 87 runs still came from the final 10 overs.
Glamorgan's reply stumbled in the space of five overs. Opener Will Bragg was caught behind off Tim Murtagh attempting a sweep and Tyron Henderson broke through twice bowling both Allenby and Gibbs.
Gareth Rees, who had been dropped at slip from the first ball of the innings, put his side's chase back on course with Maynard, who got it down to 151 needed from the final 20 overs. Rees went to 50 from 55 balls.
And Maynard went to his half century off just 41 balls.
But a productive fourth wicket partnership - 89 from 12 overs - was ended when Rees was caught by Shaun Udal at backward point off Malan.
Glamorgan were given renewed hope as Maynard hit Malan for three consecutive fours. But Maynard's brave effort ended in spectacular fashion when he was run out coming back for a second to a direct hit by Morgan who only had one stump to aim at.
And after Mark Wallace was bowled, Glamorgan's hopes of a first win in the competition were thwarted.
