Mark Ramprakash's first NatWest Pro40 appearance of the season gave added spice to Surrey Brown Caps' Division Two match against Glamorgan Dragons at the Brit Oval.

Ramprakash, widely touted for an England recall for next week's final Ashes Test on the same ground, was in the field as Glamorgan put together a modest total of 192 for five in 37 overs in the floodlit match before heavy rain brought their innings to an abrupt finish.

Will Bragg, playing in only his third one-day match, was the main aggressor for Glamorgan in an opening stand of 58 in 12 overs with Gareth Rees. Bragg had made 36 off 43 balls when he dragged on trying to force Stuart Meaker through the off side.

Six runs later Rees's attempt to break the shackles ended ingloriously as a leading edge to medium-pacer Tim Linley looped to Meaker at cover.

Jim Allenby, who earlier this week left Leicestershire to join Glamorgan on loan after agreeing a three-year contract from the start of next season, failed to shine on his debut for his new county.

He had made 28 and was just starting to find some fluency when he fell to a well-judged catch by Meaker at deep backward square.

Tom Maynard, fresh from a century in his last one-day appearance, had made only nine when he checked a drive against off-spinner Matthew Spriegel and presented a simple return catch.

Jamie Dalrymple and Mark Wallace gave the Glamorgan innings fresh momentum in a fifth-wicket stand of 53 off 10 overs, but Dalrymple's innings of 38 off 41 balls ended in Spriegel's final over when he picked out Chris Schofield on the extra cover boundary. Wallace top-scored with a busy unbeaten 42 off 43 balls.

Surrey confirmed before the start of the game that batsmen Chris Murtagh and James Benning, former England seamer Jimmy Ormond and off-spinner Murtaza Hussain would be leaving at the end of the season.
