Wales suffered a major injury blow today as they prepared for their Commonwealth Games rugby sevens campaign.

British Lion wing Dafydd James withdrew from the 12-man squad after suffering a recurrence of an elbow injury.

James, one of six senior Welsh internationals on view in Manchester, was replaced by Swansea's Wales Under-21 international Gareth Swales.

James' withdraw came just hours before Wales' opening match against Sri Lanka.
