The BBC attracted a peak of 9.7 million viewers for the Commonwealth Games closing ceremony.

The ratings topped those for the opening ceremony, which peaked at 8.9 million. The average of eight million viewers last night represented a 40.7 share.

The top-rating sport of the Games was the final night of the track and field at the City of Manchester Stadium last Wednesday, when a peak of 7.5 million people tuned in.
