Keino - One of all-time greatest (Allsport).
COMMONWEALTH GAMES GREATS
By Phil Hay, PA Sport
PERCY WILLIAMS (Canada): Williams, injured midway through the race, defied the pain to clinch the 100 yards dash before collapsing in agony at the end of the race. Ragted higher than either Ben Johnson or Donovan Baile.
KIP KEINO (Kenya): Keino, widely recognised as the first world-class Kenyan star, broke the Commonwealth record in 1966 to win the mile before beating world record-holder Ron Clarke in the three miles. Four years later, he won his third Commonwealth gold in the 1,500m.
DON QUARRIE (Jamaica): Don Quarrie's 100m victory in 1978 made him the first male athlete to win six gold medals in the Commonwealth Games - a record that
still stands today.
LENNOX LEWIS (Canada): The enormous super-heavyweight caused a shock in Edinburgh in 1986 by winning the Super-heavyweight gold before adding the Olympic version two years later.
CATHY FREEMAN (Australia): Freeman won the double of 200m and 400m in 1994 and memorably celebrated with both the Australian national flag and an Aboriginal one.
SUSIE O'NEILL (Australia): Swimmer O'Neill won an incredible 10 golds, including six in Kuala Lumpur, and five silver medals to establish her as the most successful Australian athlete in the history of the
games.
