SUSPENDED JUDGE REINSTATED
By Mark Staniforth, PA Sport
David Agong, the boxing judge who was suspended last Sunday for making
"political decisions" during a first round bout, has been reinstated.
The Ugandan official was banned indefinitely by Amateur International Boxing
Association president Anwar Chowdhry for his scoring in a first round
light-middleweight contest - even though Agong's scores tallied with three of
the other four officials.
Agong had issued a statement to the media last night insisting his reputation
was in tatters and that he would pursue legal action against Chowdhry if he did
not apologise.
Today Agong was back in the ring officiating and he said: "Dr Chowdhry saw me
this morning and told me continue as normal.
"He still did not tell me what I had done wrong or why I had been suspended,
or what was the political decision. But now my reputation is intact again."
