ENGLAND WIN RELAY GOLD
By Ian Gordon, PA Sport
Darren Campbell anchored England's sprint relay team to victory by a hair's
breadth in the Commonwealth Games at the City of Manchester Stadium tonight.
The quartet of Jason Gardener, Marlon Devonish, Allyn Condon and Campbell were
given gold after clocking the same time as second-placed Jamaica.
England claimed their third title of the night by the thickness of 200m bronze
medallist Campbell's torso after a lengthy inspection of the photo-finish.
The two teams both clocked 38.62secs with Australia third in 38.87 while Wales
finished last.
