There was double delight for Kenya on the track on Friday as they took gold in both the women's 800m and the men's 3,000m steeplechase.
Janeth Jepkosgei claimed a surprise victory in 800m, beating hot favourite Maria Mutola into third.
The former Olympic champion, from Mozambique, was run out of it in the home straight as Jepkosgei pulled clear to win in 1.57.88 ahead of Jamaican Kenia Sinclair.
Scotland's Susan Scott and England's Jemma Simpson both set new personal bests - Scott's time of 1.59.02 was a new national record - but they could finish only fourth and sixth respectively. Marilyn Okoro, also of England, was seventh.
For Scott it was further disappointment as she had finished in the same position in Manchester at the 2002 Games.
Meanwhile, Ezekiel Kemboi led home a 1-2-3 for Kenya in the steeplechase.
Olympic champion Kemboi won in 8.18.17 to see off team-mates Wesley Kiprotich and Reuben Kosgei.
Stuart Stokes was the highest-placed Briton in fifth.
