Fleeting Spirit has enjoyed what her trainer Jeremy Noseda described as "a relaxed" pipe-opener on the main track at Santa Anita.
The Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint candidate was partnered by her big-race pilot Johnny Murtagh and after returning to the barn, Noseda said: "She's in good order.
"Johnny rode her this morning and she relaxed into her surroundings, although I'm convinced that she'll never have gone as fast in her life as will be the case on Saturday.
"There are half a dozen horses that like to lead and there's a distinct chance they will go the first quarter in 20 and change.
"There will be a lot of traffic and I have a feeling she will be a fair way back at the halfway point.
"I'll say a little prayer and just hope we get some luck in running."
