Paraguay captain Jose Luis Chilavert is
expecting to qualify for the World Cup last 16, with a helping hand from Spain.
The South Americans need a victory over Slovenia, a defeat for South Africa
against the Spaniards and a three-goal swing in goal difference to steal second
place from Bafana Bafana.
But Chilavert is sure Spain, already guaranteed a second round spot, will be
speaking the same language when they meet South Africa in Group B's final games
on Wednesday.
He said: "We expect to qualify. Obviously the first thing is to beat
Slovenia.
"But we need also a Spanish help. I think they will help us because we all
speak Spanish."
The extrovert goalkeeper knows Cesare Maldini's side will have to improve on
their first two performances if they are to beat the Slovenians.
The Europeans may be bottom of the table, but with their exit guaranteed, will
be determined to end a disappointing tournament on a high.
He added: "We have to improve our attitude and concentration. Up to now, we
failed because of our own mistakes."
Experienced defender Carlos Gamarra echoed his skipper's sentiments.
He added: "We are used to playing defensively, very focused, and winning
matches that way. It's obvious that we're not doing it in the right way now."
