Doyle - first Festival success.
walk in the park in the final
Oscar Park (14-1) gave David Arbuthnot and Tom Doyle their first Festival winner in the finale, the Pertemps Final.
Arbuthnot has taken over the training of owner George Ward's string having previously been better known for his handling of Flat horses.
Always travelling strongly near the pace, Doyle kicked on fully two furlongs from home and grimly held the challenge of the one-eyed Material World by half a length.
The veteran Adamant Approach was placed at the Festival yet again in third, while Mistanoora bounced back to form in fourth.
Ward said: "I've never had such joy - it's fantastic to win here. "I'm so pleased for the horse as he had a crashing fall at Haydock earlier this year.
"This is the first winner we've had back with David and it's a joy to see. He works very hard and I'm so pleased for him, for the yard, and of course, for me!
"You never are confident here because it's such a hard place to win at."
Arbuthnot added: "I was fairly confident but I was getting less confident the more the ground was drying up because he does like a bit more cut.
"It's his bravery that got him there and when the other one got there he found a bit more - he's a very brave horse.
"It was a very good ride. We discussed what we were going to do and Tom rode it to the letter."
