Nickname - comfortable victory.
nickname eases to win
Nickname landed his fifth victory of the season as he ran out a comfortable 12-length winner of the Grade Two paddypowerpoker.com Newlands Chase.
Sent off the 1-4 favourite, odds-on backers never had an anxious moment as Walsh settled his mount in fourth place behind the pace-setting Gemini Lucy.
The Martin Brassil-trained eight-year-old made up the ground effortlessly to join the leader at the second-last and despite taking a slight bump off the eventual second, he powered clear on the run to the line.
Brassil said of his mudlark: "Ruby said they went a bit steady and he knew they were going to quicken up at one stage.
"I was happy with the way he went away on he run-in and it's a privilege to have a horse like him.
"We won't decide until probably about three days before the race whether he will go for the Queen Mother."
