Scott Harrison successfully defended his WBO featherweight title against
Walter Estrada then declared the boxing world has still to see the best of him.
Colombian Estrada, who came in as a late replacement for original opponent
William Abelyan, started confidently enough but soon found the Scotsman far too
much to cope with and the referee called a halt to the fight in the fifth round
with Harrison well on top.
Afterwards a delighted Harrison looked forward to bigger and better things.
He said: "This is my second reign as champion and I've had 25 fights so it's
getting easier.
"I'm 26 years old just now so I've got a way to go, although I don't know
when I'm going to peak.
"I've still got a lot to learn but there's another three belts out there and
I'll not rest until I win them.
"I only watched Estrada's tapes for two rounds but he weakened against me
round after round and I'm just glad to get it out of the way."
Earlier in the night, Manchester's Anthony Farnell won back his WBU
middleweight belt with a demolition of local boy Lawrence Murphy.
Farnell was in ferocious form straight from the first bell and knocked the
Scotsman down in the first and second rounds before the referee stepped in
during the third to prevent Murphy from taking more punishment.
Afterwards Farnell claimed the fear of losing drove him on to the best
performance of his career.
He said: "It was the best win of my life because if I had lost that fight I
would have had nowhere to go.
"So it feels even better than when I won it the first time round.
"I trained at 200% for this fight and I needed to win it.
"I knew Lawrence was a great fighter because of what he's done in the past
but I had great sparring with several tall fighters like Murphy and it feels
great that I've won."
Murphy's manager Alex Morrisson was disappointed in his fighter's display
despite the Scotsman suffering a burst eardrum in the first round.
He said: "The first punch of the fight burst Lawrence's eardrum and he lost
his balance. But he didn't fight to the gameplan.
"Farnell was goading Lawrence at the weigh-in and in the ring before the
fight and Lawrence got suckered in.
"It's his first defeat and whatever he decides to do now we'll go along with
it."
